Place a banner or Text link on your site that has been provided by the advertiser. When a person clicks the banner or link they are taken to that web site and you receive a payment for sending that person to a particular product 'pay per click'. It doesn't matter if that person buys the product, you still get paid for the introduction. It's much like a introduction or redirect fee.

Does a lot of traffic means a lot of clicks and money? Short answer NO.
What you need is what everyone wants. The closer you get to what everyone wants the more clicks you will generate. You wont get high click rates from general visitors unless your site targets that item or you screen those visitors yourself by providing a pre-click link. An Affiliate Programme or a Click Sales Programme is harder to gauge than Click Through Returns. The banner or link provider may tell you that the click through rate for their affiliate programme can be as high as 17%. In actual fact you'll need to narrow you traffic to get this type of return. People just surfing your site will not click through at a rate of 17% unless they are here for that product in the first place. So you need to generate traffic to your site from relevant links or ads. Search Engine links are the best because they are free and the person IS looking for that product. So naturally your sale percentages from your affiliate programme will be higher
